Third Polio Vaccination Campaign 2025: Pakistan has officially launched its third National Immunisation Days (NIDs) campaign of 2025, aiming to vaccinate over 45 million children under five. The campaign was inaugurated at the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) in Islamabad by Ayesha Raza Farooq, the Prime Minister’s Focal Person for Polio Eradication, along with government officials and international partners.

Ms. Farooq administered oral polio vaccine and Vitamin A drops, highlighting the government’s commitment to polio eradication. Despite progress, 10 polio cases have been reported in 2025, and 272 sewage samples across 68 districts have tested positive, signaling ongoing virus transmission.
Nationwide Polio Drive Targets High-Risk Areas and Mobilizes 400,000 Workers
UNICEF Representative Abdullah Fadil praised Pakistan’s leadership, stating the country is closer than ever to a polio-free future. The campaign, which began on May 26, focuses on high-risk areas like Karachi, South KP, and the Quetta Block.
Over 400,000 frontline workers, including 225,000 female vaccinators, are part of the effort, supported by security personnel to ensure safe access to children. Parents are urged to cooperate with teams and report missed children via the Sehat Tahaffuz Helpline (1166) or WhatsApp (0346-7776546).
