Lahore continues to suffer under a severe heatwave during Eid-ul-Azha. On the third day of celebrations, temperatures have soared, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasting highs of 46°C. This marks one of the hottest days of the summer season.
Currently, the temperature stands at 38°C. PMD officials expect the extreme heat to last at least five more days. Furthermore, no rainfall is expected in Lahore for the next ten days, adding to residents’ concerns.
Due to these harsh conditions, health experts are advising caution. They recommend staying indoors during peak hours—12:00 PM to 4:00 PM—when the sun is most intense. To avoid heat-related illnesses, people should drink plenty of water and wear loose, breathable clothing.
Medical professionals warn that heat exhaustion and heatstroke are real dangers. Children, the elderly, and those with medical issues are particularly at risk. Early signs like dizziness, rapid heartbeat, and nausea should not be ignored.
In response, local authorities have placed emergency services on alert. Citizens are urged to seek medical help immediately if symptoms arise. Meanwhile, public announcements are being made to spread awareness.
As Eid-ul-Azha celebrations continue, many families are choosing to adjust their outdoor plans. Safety remains the top priority as the city grapples with the ongoing heat.
