Pakistan diplomatic offensive: In a significant diplomatic move, Pakistan has dispatched a high-level delegation to Moscow, headed by Syed Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs. The mission aims to present Pakistan’s perspective on recent regional developments and to promote peace through diplomatic engagement.
This visit is part of a broader initiative launched by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, focusing on strengthening Pakistan’s international outreach. A second delegation, led by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, has been deployed to key Western capitals, including New York, Washington D.C., London, and Brussels.
Focus on Peace, Dialogue, and the Indus Waters Treaty
Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan stated that Mr. Fatemi’s delegation will engage with senior Russian officials, media, and think tanks to highlight Pakistan’s “responsible and peaceful stance” versus India’s “irresponsible and aggressive actions.”
“This diplomatic outreach is designed to mobilise international support for Pakistan’s position and reinforce the importance of peace, dialogue, and diplomacy over confrontation,” the spokesperson added.

The Western delegation, including figures like Dr. Musaddiq Malik, Senator Sherry Rehman, Hina Rabbani Khar, and others, will interact with a broad spectrum of international stakeholders, urging global efforts to promote peace and stability in South Asia.
Both delegations will engage with a wide range of international stakeholders, including government officials, lawmakers, policy experts, media representatives, and the Pakistani diaspora. A key agenda item will be urging the international community to play an active role in promoting peace and stability in South Asia.
Additionally, both delegations will raise concerns about the Indus Waters Treaty, emphasizing the urgent need for restoring its original terms and ensuring uninterrupted implementation.
