In a press conference held in Rawalpindi, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry reiterated the stance that those responsible for the May 9 riots would be held accountable according to the constitution and the law of the land. Emphasizing the abundance of evidence, including CCTV footage capturing the attacks on army installations and videos implicating political leaders in directing the rioters, Maj Gen Chaudhry affirmed the commitment to ensuring justice.
He highlighted the nefarious intent behind the riots, aimed at sowing discord between the public and the Pakistan Armed Forces, branding it as a calculated attempt at a False Flag Operation. Regarding the judicial commission, Maj Gen Chaudhry asserted that its formation is typically for cases where doubt exists, but in this instance, the facts surrounding the May 9 riots are indisputable.
On the possibility of dialogue with any faction involved, the DG ISPR remained resolute, stating unequivocally that no talks would be entertained with those who attack their own army and propagate against them. He labeled such groups as anarchists and outlined a path for them to reconciliation: sincere apology, abandonment of hate politics, and engagement in constructive dialogue.
