Washington, D.C. — In a landmark diplomatic engagement, U.S. President Donald Trump hosted Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, at the White House to discuss regional stability, with a focus on the escalating Iran-Israel conflict.

The high-profile meeting, confirmed by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), included a luncheon in the Cabinet Room and extended discussions in the Oval Office. The two leaders emphasized the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the Iran-Israel crisis, highlighting diplomacy and dialogue over military escalation.

Strengthening U.S.-Pakistan Strategic Ties

During the more-than-two-hour-long engagement—originally scheduled for just one—President Trump acknowledged Pakistan’s vital role in maintaining regional peace, especially in the context of the ongoing Iran-Israel tensions and India-Pakistan relations.

Field Marshal Munir praised the U.S. for its constructive role in sustaining the Pakistan-India ceasefire, and extended a formal invitation to President Trump to visit Pakistan in the near future.

Expanding Bilateral Cooperation: Trade, AI, Minerals & More

The discussion covered a wide range of topics, including:

  • Commerce and economic partnerships
  • Mineral resource development
  • Artificial intelligence and emerging technologies
  • Energy cooperation
  • Cryptocurrency and digital finance

President Trump reportedly expressed a strong interest in building a long-term, strategic trade alliance with Pakistan, particularly in sectors aligned with global innovation and sustainability.

Also present at the meeting were U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Representative for the Middle East Steve Witkoff. Pakistan’s National Security Adviser joined Field Marshal Munir to represent Islamabad’s strategic interests during the dialogue.

The ISPR noted that President Trump commended Pakistan’s contributions to global counterterrorism efforts and appreciated Field Marshal Munir’s decisive leadership during a time of complex regional challenges.

A New Chapter in U.S.-Pakistan Relations

The ISPR hailed the engagement as a “pivotal moment” in the evolution of Pakistan-U.S. ties. Both parties agreed to enhance cooperation in key areas, including:

  • Counterterrorism and security collaboration
  • Trade and technology exchange
  • Development of critical minerals and infrastructure

This historic meeting marks a turning point in U.S.-Pakistan diplomacy, as both nations commit to a partnership rooted in peace, prosperity, and shared global objectives.
