Islamabad: Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, has declared that a united front comprising Pakistan, Iran, and Türkiye would be an unstoppable geopolitical force, beyond the challenge of any global power.
During a wide-ranging interview on Samaa News programme Nadeem Malik Live, Ambassador Moghadam emphasized that recent conflicts had drawn Pakistan and Iran closer than ever before.
Pakistan’s Support During Zionist Aggression
Referring to 12 consecutive days of Israeli strikes on Iran, Moghadam praised Pakistan’s unwavering diplomatic solidarity.
“Both the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister of Pakistan condemned the aggression unequivocally,” he said. “At international forums, Pakistan’s representatives stood firmly with Iran. Resolutions supporting Iran were passed in Pakistan’s Senate and National Assembly. We are deeply grateful.”
He added that no single event had ever united Iran and Pakistan so strongly.
“Our Parliament chanted slogans of ‘Thank You, Pakistan’, and our President officially conveyed appreciation. During funerals of our martyrs, along with Iranian flags, people carried Pakistan’s flag. Iran and Pakistan are like one soul in two bodies,” Moghadam remarked.
A Powerful Alliance Against Common Threats
The ambassador discussed broader regional dynamics, highlighting the shared challenges Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye face—particularly the strategic ambitions of Israel, backed by the US and Europe.
“They want to install Israel as a regional hegemon. However, if Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye unite, they can form a powerful alliance that no global power could rival,” he asserted.
Moghadam elaborated on the unique strengths of each nation:
- Pakistan: Nuclear weapons capability
- Iran: Vast oil reserves
- Türkiye: Industrial capacity and strategic geographic location as the gateway to Europe
- Saudi Arabia: Regional influence and economic power
He added:
“If China joins this alliance, its impact would be even more profound. We must recognize both our threats and our shared interests.”
Regional Tensions and Resilience
Speaking about past confrontations, Moghadam criticized the role of former US President Donald Trump in escalating tensions, particularly after the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani.
“We never wanted regional escalation. We accepted negotiation offers and completed five rounds. Just before the sixth round, on a signal from the US, Israel carried out a surprise attack on our military leadership and scientists,” he recalled.
Following Iran’s retaliatory missile strikes, he said, Israel’s streets looked like “scenes resembling Gaza.” The US subsequently requested a ceasefire through Qatar’s Emir.
Moghadam stressed that Iran’s nuclear expertise cannot be destroyed:
“Our nuclear technology is not only in physical facilities—it lives in the minds of our scientists and students. They can damage our centrifuges but cannot erase this knowledge.”
Stronger Pakistan-Iran Cooperation
Reaffirming Iran’s commitment to bilateral cooperation, the ambassador highlighted progress in security and economic collaboration:
“Along the mountainous border region, we face challenges. Terrorist groups are supplied with arms by our common enemies. Yet our security cooperation is ongoing and will continue,” he stated.
He concluded by emphasizing that Iran and Pakistan’s interests are now more aligned than ever before, paving the way for a strong, mutually beneficial partnership.
