Body Found During Eviction Enforcement

Humaira Asghar had been living alone in her Karachi flat since 2018. However, after failing to pay rent in 2024, her landlord pursued legal action through the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC). On Tuesday, a court-appointed bailiff arrived to enforce the eviction notice.

Upon entering the apartment, the bailiff discovered a decomposing body and immediately alerted the police. Officers then transported the remains to Jinnah Hospital for a postmortem examination.

Identification Through Documents and Forensics

Due to the advanced state of decomposition, visual identification was not possible. However, police recovered several items from the scene that helped confirm the identity:

  • A mobile phone registered under Humaira Asghar’s name
  • Her National Identity Card (NIC)
  • A fashion magazine featuring her photographs

These findings, along with SIM registration records, verified that the body was indeed that of Humaira Asghar. Police also initiated DNA testing for formal identification.

No Signs of Foul Play, Say Police

According to SSP South Karachi, no immediate evidence of foul play was found at the scene. Investigators believe the cause of death may be natural, although forensic testing and the postmortem report are still pending.

“The flat has been sealed, and a detailed investigation is underway,” confirmed SSP South.

Dispute Between Landlord and Tenant

Police reports reveal that Humaira Asghar had an ongoing rent dispute with the landlord. After months of unpaid rent, the case was taken to court, eventually leading to the bailiff’s visit.

“When the bailiff entered the apartment, he found the deceased. The property was resealed, and the matter returned to court,” police officials added. Further legal instructions are expected within the next day.

Public and Industry React to Sudden Death

The tragic news has stunned fans and members of the Pakistani entertainment industry. Once a rising star in modeling and television, Humaira had retreated from public life in recent years.

Neighbors described her as a quiet and private individual who rarely interacted with others in the building. Many expressed sorrow over the manner of her passing.

A Sobering Reminder

The discovery of Humaira Asghar’s decomposed body in her Karachi flat has sparked conversations about mental health, loneliness, and the importance of welfare checks—especially for individuals living alone.

As investigations continue, her death serves as a heartbreaking reminder of the unseen struggles people may endure behind closed doors.
